Raue's sound delivers a new era of grunge with the thickness of alternative rock. Led by teens Paige Kalenian & drummer Jax Huckle out of San Diego, California, Raue stays true to their convictions by delivering a wickedly honest, slightly nostalgic repertoire and performance.
From blowout shows alongside ThxSoMch, Ultra Q, and Small Crush to packed sets at Treefort and Noisepop, Raue is keeping the momentum going on tour with Sawyer Hill at a handful of sold-out dates across North America. The past year also saw Raue breaking over 5M career streams, 3M streams alone on 2023’s “Karma,” and getting major editorial looks from Spotify’s New Noise (as 2024 Artists to Watch) and All New Rock to Apple Music’s New in Rock and Negative Space. The band has also taken up partnership opportunities with Volcom and SJC drums.
"Or Forever Hold Your Peace..." encapsulates the range of the band's sonic and aesthetic palette. Heavy, emotionally-charged tracks like "Weak Blood" and "Vodka & Soda'' are balanced by the fast-paced "Samba Samba " and "Lilac " with hints of melancholic melodies in "Wasting Time”. To Paige, these songs “refine a raw, unbridled energy and emotion” all while “trying to build a voice that can embrace the discomfort”. In turn, listeners are left with a feeling of something both comfortably familiar, yet stimulating and new. A paradox of ineffability, if you will.
